When I brought her food, she was livestreaming again. \u201cOkay, let\u2019s see if this is worth the wait.\u201d She poked at the salad. \u201cThis chicken looks dry. Where\u2019s my extra dressing?\u201d\u201cIt\u2019s on the side, ma\u2019am.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cObviously.\u201d<\/p>\n
For half an hour, she picked at her food and complained to her phone. The lettuce was wilted. It wasn\u2019t. The chicken was dry. It wasn\u2019t. She ate most of it anyway.When I brought the check, she twisted her mouth. \u201cOne hundred and twelve dollars? For this?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cYes, ma\u2019am. You had the salad, two sides, the dessert sampler, and three drinks.\u201d<\/p>\n
She turned to her phone. \u201cThey\u2019re trying to overcharge me. This is ridiculous.\u201d Then she looked at me. \u201cYou\u2019ve been rude this entire time. You ruined the vibe. I\u2019m not paying for disrespect.\u201d<\/p>\n
I hadn\u2019t raised my voice once.<\/p>\n
Before I could respond, she grabbed her bag, smiled into her phone, and said, \u201cI\u2019m out of here. This place doesn\u2019t deserve my money or my platform.\u201dShe walked out and left the bill on the table.<\/p>\n
I watched the door close. And I smiled.<\/p>\n
Because she had picked the wrong granny.<\/p>\n
I went straight to my manager, Danny. \u201cThat woman walked out on a hundred-and-twelve-dollar bill.\u201d<\/p>\n
He sighed. \u201cIt happens, Esther. We\u2019ll comp it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cGood. We\u2019re going after her.\u201d<\/p>\n
Simon laughed. \u201cLooks like she picked the wrong grandma.\u201d<\/p>\n
He took off down Main Street with me on the back. I spotted Sabrina right away, still livestreaming, still talking.<\/p>\n
I leaned out and called, clear as day, \u201cMa\u2019am! You didn\u2019t pay your one hundred and twelve dollar bill!\u201d<\/p>\n
She froze. Her phone swung around. People stopped and stared.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is harassment!\u201d she snapped.<\/p>\n
\u201cNo, sweetheart. This is collections.\u201d<\/p>\n
She ducked into a grocery store. We waited. I stepped right into frame behind her while she was filming in produce, holding a tomato.<\/p>\n

She screamed. Dropped her phone. A woman nearby laughed and said, \u201cPay the lady, honey.\u201d<\/p>\n

She tried a shoe store. A coffee shop. The park. A yoga studio.<\/p>\n
Every time she thought she was safe, I appeared.<\/p>\n
Calm. Polite. Persistent.<\/p>\n
At the yoga studio, she finally broke. In the middle of a pose, she yanked cash from her purse and shoved it into my hand. Exactly $112.<\/p>\n
