Richard barely lifted his gaze from his phone, and Jessica scoffed at the cranberry sauce, criticizing it for being homemade. I was invisible.
\nWhen I finally tried to sit down at the table, I was met with a shove from Jessica. The chair I\u2019d worked so hard for\u2014the seat of the wife, of the woman who had made this day happen\u2014was snatched away. Richard did nothing. He didn\u2019t stop her.
