At five in the morning on a cold Tuesday, an urgent phone call from Deputy Warden sent me racing my truck through a dangerous rainstorm toward an isolated bus shelter at Maple Avenue and Pine Street. I arrived to find my twenty four year old daughter Chloe, who was five months pregnant, lying gravely injured and abandoned on the freezing wet concrete. She had been subjected to unimaginable cruelty by her wealthy husband Garrett and his mother Evelyn simply because she had not polished a silver tea set to their exact standards. Chloe had married into the prestigious Harrington family three years earlier, but instead of welcoming her, they treated her with constant disdain. When I knelt beside her soaked nightgown, she was barely conscious and softly explained that Evelyn had restrained her while Garrett caused her severe harm, ignoring her desperate pleas regarding her unborn child. Emergency paramedics arrived moments later and rushed us directly to St Jude General Hospital as I watched my daughter slip into a completely unresponsive state.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
