The Stranger Who Wore My Husband’s Face

When Marissa opened the door, she expected to see her husband standing there as usual, wearing his familiar hoodie and greeting her with a kiss. Instead, something immediately felt wrong. He didn’t use her nickname, didn’t smile the same way, and moved through the house like a visitor rather than someone who lived there. Even their cat hissed at him. In the weeks that followed, Hayden tried to help Grant rebuild his life, even finding him a job and slowly introducing him into their world. Eventually, he and Marissa invited Grant to dinner, though the evening was stiff and uncertain. Marissa wasn’t ready to fully trust him yet, but she made the effort for Hayden’s sake. Each night afterward, she quietly watched their cat curl up beside Hayden’s feet, comforted by the small reminder that animals sense the truth—Waffles knew exactly which one was the real husband.
