Born to Edward and Lula Wade on December 16, 1934, in Norfolk, Va., Herman “Pete” B. Wade moved to Nashville in 1954. The guitarist made the trip on a bus with $3, his suitcase, and two ham sandwiches. (He forgot his sandwiches on the bus.) He had telephone numbers for Don Helms and Jerry Rivers, musicians in Hank Williams’ band.Wade was 19 years old and, with Helms’ help, soon joined Price’s band, the Cherokee Cowboys, which briefly included Willie Nelson. He had given himself two weeks to find a job in Nashville, and the gig with Price slid in at his deadline.

HE PUT HIS HAND ON MY BELLY—RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY PARENTS I don’t know if he did it on purpose, but it sure felt intentional. We were out in Bar Harbor with my parents for the weekend. They’ve always been… polite to Dariel. Never outright rude, but you can feel that weird tension sometimes. My dad tries too hard, over-laughs at his jokes. My mom avoids saying his name like it’s a trigger word. Still, I figured things were fine enough. We’d been married almost a year, and this was the first time they invited us on a little trip. Progress, right? Anyway, we were on a trail overlooking the water, and my mom wanted to snap a photo of us. I stood next to Dariel, just smiling like usual. But right before the camera clicked, he slid his hand around my waist and rested it gently—very deliberately—on my stomach. Not low like a casual hold. Not high like a hug. Dead center. Right over my belly. My mom lowered the phone. My dad blinked. No one said a word, and I just stood there frozen, wondering if they noticed. I mean, of course they noticed. You’d have to be blind not to. I glanced at Dariel, but he just kept smiling like nothing happened. Thing is… we hadn’t told anyone yet. Not even close. I wasn’t even sure we were going to tell them anytime soon. Later that night, my mom pulled me aside at the inn. She didn’t ask directly, just stared at me with that smile she uses when she’s pretending not to be upset. And Dariel? He was already acting like the secret’s out. I don’t know if he did it to force the conversation… or to see how they’d react. But what he doesn’t know is what my mom said to me after that photo. — — — continues in the first ⬇ — — —

The dog blocked the ambulance road when medics came out, shocked by what they saw… That day, the ambulance was rushing from another call, despite the gloomy weather and a packed schedule. Suddenly, the driver braked sharply, noticing an unusual obstacle in the road. A beautiful dog was sitting right in the middle of the road, watching the vehicle with amazing calmness. The dog didn’t respond to the signals and didn’t move, as if it was waiting for something. One of the medics, deciding to figure out what was going on, got out of the car. But the dog simply moved to the side without running away. When he returned to the car, the dog immediately took its place again — as if it were challenging the team. Surprised, the medics decided to approach it. The dog, showing no fear, slowly began to walk toward the bushes, glancing back at the people. The medic followed — and suddenly stopped, calling his colleagues over. What they saw near the bushes made them all go crazy… Continue in the first comment under the picture

THEY ESCORTED US OUT OF THE HOSPITAL—BUT NOT FOR THE REASON YOU THINK When they told us we could finally leave, I should’ve felt relieved. Instead, I felt numb. My daughter was smiling under her mask, clutching her stuffed bunny and waving to every nurse in sight, but I couldn’t shake the pit in my stomach. We didn’t have a home to go back to. Rent lapsed months ago while I was staying at the hospital with her, day and night, waiting through treatments and test results. Her dad was long gone. My job said they “understood”—but they stopped calling two weeks ago. I knew what that meant. I tried not to show it. I kept smiling for her, brushing her hair back, letting her pick out a balloon from the gift shop even though we couldn’t really afford it. Then two police officers showed up in the lobby. For a second, I panicked. I thought maybe it was about the bills, or the paperwork I didn’t finish. But one of the nurses just gave me a little nod and whispered, “It’s okay. They’re here to help.” The officers offered to carry our bags, help us to a “temporary placement.” I didn’t know what that meant, and I was too exhausted to ask. We walked out like any other family—wheels squeaking on the hospital floor, nurses waving goodbye. But once we were outside, one of the officers leaned in close and handed me a plain white envelope. He said, “Don’t open it until you’re in the van.” Inside the van now. Envelope’s in my lap. And I just noticed the corner has a name written on it—his name.⬇ (full story in the first cᴑmment)
