Hours after giving birth, I overheard my husband Grant walking through the hospital hallway carrying our newborn daughter while his mistress, Celeste, called herself “Mama.” My own mother stood beside them carrying a diaper bag embroidered with Celeste’s initials. Then I heard Grant whisper, “Don’t let me see your hands, Mara. You signed enough tonight.” That was when I realized they had drugged me and forged documents to steal my baby.

Weak and bleeding, I pulled out my IV and grabbed my phone. Thankfully, I had already been secretly recording conversations after receiving a disturbing text from Celeste the night before. The recordings captured everything — Grant admitting he overmedicated me, Celeste bragging about forged papers, and the hospital administrator agreeing to delay the birth certificate filing in exchange for a donation.

I called the only person powerful enough to stop them immediately: Judge Evelyn Ross. The moment I explained my husband was trying to traffic my newborn through a fake adoption, her voice turned ice cold. She ordered me to stay visible and say nothing I couldn’t prove. Minutes later, I stepped barefoot into the hallway covered in blood while Grant and Celeste froze in shock.
