The Fake Ring That Exposed My Entire Family

Mom spent the next week sending endless messages accusing me of ruining the family. She claimed her health was failing, that Aiden was depressed, and that I would regret humiliating her. I blocked her after she texted, “At least your ring finally did something useful.”

Ten days later, Aiden appeared outside my apartment carrying a paper bag filled with my hospital clothes. He looked exhausted, smaller somehow, stripped of the confidence Mom always built around him. Quietly, he admitted he didn’t know the truth at first.
