The morning after Ethan abandoned me, his mother Diane arrived at my condo carrying pastries and fake concern. Beneath her sweet smile was a folder full of papers she wanted me to sign—documents that would give Ethan control over the condo my father left me. When I refused, her kindness vanished instantly.

She warned me that life could become “very hard” for a pregnant woman alone. The moment she left, I called my attorney Harper, who immediately recognized the move for what it was: panic. They were desperate because I was no longer cooperating quietly.

Later that night, I accidentally discovered an invitation for Ashley’s baby shower through Ethan’s business email. The event was being funded with money Ethan claimed he didn’t have for our daughter’s crib, medical bills, or baby supplies. Worse still, the baby boy Ashley carried was being given the exact name Ethan once chose for our future son.
