Turtle Refuses to Let Go After Grabbing African Wild Dog by the Tongue

A dramatic encounter between a turtle and an African wild dog has captured attention after the reptile clamped onto the animal’s tongue and refused to release its grip.

According to witnesses, the curious wild dog approached the turtle and attempted to inspect it closely. However, within seconds, the turtle snapped its powerful jaws onto the dog’s tongue. Startled and in visible discomfort, the dog tried repeatedly to pull away, but the turtle held on firmly.

The unusual standoff lasted several moments as the dog struggled to free itself. Eventually, after persistent efforts, the animal managed to escape the turtle’s grip and move away unharmed.

Wildlife experts note that although turtles are generally slow-moving creatures, many species possess surprisingly strong jaws and can defend themselves effectively when they feel threatened. The incident serves as a reminder that even seemingly harmless animals can be formidable when protecting themselves
