Happy Butt or Gladys? A First Day of School Mix-Up

On her very first day at a new school, a little girl walked into class. The teacher smiled and asked, “Sweetie, what’s your name?” The girl proudly replied, “Happy Butt.” The whole class burst out laughing.

The teacher shook her head and said, “That can’t be right. You’d better go see the principal and clear this up.”So the little girl marched down the hallway, introducing herself to everyone she passed:
“Hi, I’m Happy Butt!”

By the time she reached the principal’s office, half the school was whispering about the new girl with the silly name. The principal looked up from his desk. “Well hello, young lady. And what’s your name?” Without missing a beat, she said again: “Happy Butt!”

The principal sighed, picked up the phone, and called her mother. After a short conversation, he hung up and leaned across the desk.Honey,” he said kindly, “your name is Gladys, not Happy Butt.”The little girl grinned from ear to ear and shouted:“Glad Ass, Happy Butt — what’s the difference?!”
