I bought a new swimsuit for the pool that was mostly black with a large blue circle on the front. While floating on my back and looking around, I noticed people glancing at me and exchanging amused looks. I couldn’t help but think I was making quite the stylish impression.
Feeling confident, I continued swimming, convinced my new swimsuit was getting plenty of attention for all the right reasons. It never crossed my mind that something else might be catching everyone’s eye.
When I got out of the pool, a kind woman hurried over and quietly explained the real reason for all the stares. The blue circle on my swimsuit perfectly matched the color of the pool tiles, creating the illusion that people could see straight through the middle of my swimsuit.
The misunderstanding had everyone laughing, including me. From that day on, friends jokingly nicknamed me the “sporty donut,” and my unforgettable swimsuit became the funniest conversation starter at the pool.
