A month later, Emma’s bedroom looked exactly as she had left it. Her books, photographs, and silver necklace were all back where they belonged.
One quiet evening, she looked at her father and softly asked, “Did Grandpa ever love me?”
Daniel hugged her tightly before answering with complete honesty. “I think he did. But love without protection isn’t enough.”
