Several months later, the case reached court. The judge ruled that Jacob and Victoria were responsible for the unauthorized demolition, the damaged property, and every dollar required to restore my home. They were also ordered to pay my legal fees.

My mother received probation for participating in the forgery, while my father admitted he had known the documents were false but chose to remain silent because he wanted to help Jacob.
