While recovering in the hospital after emergency surgery, Emily asked about her six-year-old adopted daughter, Lily, who had been staying with her parents. She soon learned that her parents and sister had cruelly told Lily she would be sent back to the orphanage to make room for the “real children.” Terrified, Lily begged her mother not to send her away.
