They Faked a DNA Test to Throw Me Out—Then One Hidden Document Destroyed Their Entire Plan

The moment I reached June’s house, I called my lawyer and sent him every photograph I had taken from Peter’s laptop. Buried among the messages was a draft property transfer scheduled for Monday morning. It authorized the sale of our home using forged electronic approvals that falsely claimed I had already agreed to the transaction. The sixty thousand dollars transferred from our savings had been labeled as “renovation expenses,” but the records showed the money had actually been wired to Paige’s account as the down payment for a condominium they planned to share. The fake DNA report had never been about Maisie—it was their excuse to remove me before I discovered the fraud.

On Monday, Peter arrived at the title office expecting an easy closing. Instead, he found my attorney, state investigators, and the real property manager waiting for him. My lawyer calmly presented the forged documents, the altered financial records, and the messages discussing how to force me out before the sale. When Peter insisted it was all a misunderstanding, investigators informed him that every transfer, email, and login had already been preserved. Helen’s confident smile vanished the moment she realized the conspiracy she had helped organize was now evidence.

A court-ordered DNA test was completed shortly afterward. The results confirmed exactly what I had always known—Maisie was Peter’s biological daughter. The report he had thrown across the coffee table had been fabricated from the beginning. By then, however, the truth no longer mattered to me in the way he expected. A father who could abandon his child because of a forged piece of paper had already made his choice long before the laboratory confirmed her identity.

Months later, the house remained ours, the missing money was recovered through court orders, and Peter and Paige faced the consequences of their financial deception. I accepted my promotion and pinned my new insignia onto my uniform with Maisie smiling beside me. Looking at my daughter, I realized that coming home had never been the end of my journey—it was the beginning of a better one. The family I fought to protect was never the one waiting inside that house. It was the little girl in my arms, and she would never again have to wonder whether she was enough
