My Crush Asked Me Out After 3 Years—Then Left Me With a $244 Bill..

After three years of secretly having a crush on him, I was thrilled when he finally asked me out on a date. He took me to a fancy restaurant, and everything seemed perfect. We talked, laughed, and had amazing chemistry throughout the entire evening. For the first time, I thought maybe all those years of waiting had finally been worth it.

Then he excused himself to use the bathroom—and never came back. At first, I assumed he was taking longer than expected, but after thirty minutes, I started to feel uneasy. Finally, the waiter approached my table looking pale and uncomfortable. He told me, “Miss, you need to cover the bill.” I froze, completely confused.

That was when I discovered the truth: my date had left the restaurant and told the waiter that I would be paying. I was absolutely shocked and humiliated. With no other choice, I paid the $244 bill myself. The money hurt, but what hurt far more was realizing that the person I had trusted enough to go on a date with had deliberately abandoned me without even having the courage to face me.

I never saw him again after that night. For three years, I had imagined what it would be like if he finally asked me out, only to have the experience end in humiliation and betrayal. What I thought had been genuine chemistry suddenly felt like a cruel joke, and the experience damaged my trust in men for a long time.
