The Secret Behind the Morning Drop-Off..

During summer mornings, my husband would drop our 6-year-old son, Luke, at his 22-year-old sitter’s house on his way to work. One Friday, my husband got sick, so I dropped Luke off instead before heading to work. But when Luke got out of the car, he looked confused and waited for me.

I asked him why he wasn’t going inside, and he innocently replied, “Dad always comes up with me. And he stays with the sitter for some time while I play alone in the playroom.” A chill ran down my spine. My husband was supposed to leave for work immediately after dropping Luke off, so why had he never told me he stayed there?

That evening, I confronted my husband about what Luke had said. His face immediately went pale, and after an uncomfortable silence, he finally admitted the truth: he had been having an affair with the sitter for a month.

My heart sank. The betrayal was more than I could bear, and I realized I could no longer stay in the marriage. The very next day, I filed for divorce, knowing that our family would never be the same again.
