At 3 a.m., I woke to 12 missed calls and a text supposedly from my mother saying, “I got robbed! Come fast!” I rushed to her house, only to discover that she hadn’t sent the message. She showed me an unsent text she had written but decided not to send, warning me that several robberies were happening near my home. Terrified, I stayed with her for an hour before returning home, where I found my front door wide open and my house ransacked, with several belongings missing. The timing left me deeply unsettled: if my mother hadn’t sent the warning, who had accessed her phone, and who had made those calls to lure me away? I never discovered the truth, but the possibility that someone deliberately used her phone to get me out of the house haunted me so much that a few weeks later, I sold the house and moved away.READ MORE BELOW
