A former child preacher, whose extraordinary life was chronicled in an Oscar-winning documentary, has died at 82. Forced into traveling revival meetings from the age of 4, he became one of America’s most famous child evangelists. After leaving the ministry, he reinvented himself and built a successful career as an actor, producer and entertainer. He died October 2 in Santa Fe from complications related to congestive heart failure — Marjoe Gortner.
