The 1981 disappearance and murder of 6-year-old Adam Walsh has remained one of America’s most haunting unsolved cases, but true-crime author Arthur Jay Harris later raised a controversial theory that the child’s remains may have been misidentified. Harris pointed to missing autopsy, dental and forensic records and questioned whether the severed head found more than 100 miles from Adam’s home actually belonged to him, even suggesting the possibility that Adam was never found.
