Cold Tarmac

A young girl named Emma ran across the cold concrete tarmac in a desperate attempt to catch up to her deploying father. Hearing her footsteps and quiet whimpers, her father dropped his heavy duffel bag and dropped to his knees to embrace her. Emma clung tightly to his military uniform, weeping as the emotional weight of his departure took hold on the open tarmac. Holding her close against his chest, the soldier whispered gentle promises of his return, wishing time could stand still.
