Sgt. Michael Emmanuel Swinton of Fayetteville, North Carolina, died on July 19, 2026, while serving in Iraq at age 30. He had served since 2017 with the 55th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 108th Air Defense Artillery Brigade, and was posthumously honored with a promotion to staff sergeant, the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and Combat Action Badge. Remembered as a devoted husband and father of two, Michael was known for his humor, contagious laugh, and dedication to those around him.
