I’m 22 and had just started my first real job when my cousin told me his bachelor party was for “professionals only,” meaning guys with established careers, so I accepted his decision and moved on. But two weeks later, he sent me a link to his honeymoon fund for a Bali vacation, asking guests to contribute $250 per person. When I said I couldn’t afford it, he guilt-tripped me with, “Come on, we’re family, bro!” That’s when I realized I was too junior to celebrate with him but somehow family enough to finance his tropical getaway. So I made him a homemade wedding card covered in childish drawings, colorful stickers, glitter, foam hearts, and biodegradable confetti, stuffed it into an oversized envelope, and delivered it the night before his wedding. Later, my aunt told me that when he opened it at the rehearsal dinner in front of the groomsmen, the confetti exploded everywhere, covering the table, wine glasses, cake, suits, and even his hair gel, leaving everyone laughing while the bride’s mother cleaned up the glittery disaster. I never sent him a single dollar, but my homemade gift became unforgettable. Now I’m wondering: was my glitter-filled revenge hilarious payback for his hypocrisy, or did I take the joke too far?
