Wrapping bathroom drain pipes in aluminum foil is a DIY hack claimed to help with insulation, pest control, corrosion prevention, and noise reduction. However, aluminum foil alone provides little effective pipe insulation and cannot reliably prevent frozen pipes or keep pests away. It also won’t reliably prevent corrosion, and direct contact between dissimilar metals can sometimes increase corrosion. For better results, use proper pipe insulation, seal pest entry points, and secure or soundproof loose pipes with suitable materials.
