HE TOLD HER TO HIDE AT THE GALA — THEN HER NECKLACE CHANGED EVERYTHING

Daniel introduced Emily at the gala like she was an embarrassment he needed to manage. He told his wealthy boss, Richard Kensington, that she was “helping with the event” and quickly tried to send her back toward the shadows. But the moment Emily stepped closer, Richard’s eyes locked onto the silver necklace around her neck.

The color drained from his face instantly. Beside him, Eleanor Kensington covered her mouth in shock. Daniel laughed nervously and mocked the necklace as cheap junk from a flea market, grabbing Emily’s arm as he told her to leave before she embarrassed him further.

Then Richard’s voice thundered across the ballroom. “Take your hand off her. Now.” Every conversation stopped. Guests turned toward them as Richard stared at the necklace with tears filling his eyes.

Emily quietly explained that the necklace belonged to the woman who raised her after rescuing her from a car fire decades earlier. When Eleanor revealed she wore the other half of the same necklace around her own neck, the entire room fell silent-
